The centre positions itself as the benchmark for mid-to-high-end genuine leather women's bags, and that is the core of what fills its floors: handbags, shoulder bags, totes and clutches in full-grain and top-grain leather, alongside the better synthetics. Around it sit business men's bags, briefcases, wallets and small leather goods, and a substantial luggage and travel-case trade.

The lower floors sell from stock; the upper showroom floors are where original design and made-to-order work happen. Many of the office-floor suppliers are manufacturers with their own factories in Huadu or Dongguan, and they use the building as a permanent trade showroom rather than a shop.

The distinction between the two matters for how you buy. A stall on the second floor will sell you a carton this afternoon; a showroom on the eighth will take a brief, sample it, and quote production.

Stock bags on the trading floors follow the district norm: a few pieces per style and colour as a minimum, per-piece pricing, and a proper break at carton quantities. Prices sit above the surrounding Sanyuanli streets and reflect it in leather quality and finishing.

On the showroom floors, minimums for a custom run generally start around 100 to 300 pieces per style, with hardware and leather grade driving the unit cost far more than construction does. Ask for leather by name — full-grain, top-grain, split, bonded — and ask to see a cut edge; the loose word "leather" hides a wide cost range.

Bring a reference. The showroom suppliers work from a sample or a technical drawing far more efficiently than from a description, and will usually produce a first sample within one to two weeks.

The centre is on Jiefang North Road at Guihuagang, a few minutes' walk from Guangzhou Railway Station on Metro Lines 2 and 5 and one stop from Sanyuanli station. It is the natural first stop in the leather district before walking out into the surrounding streets.

Half a day covers the trading floors. Showroom appointments on the upper floors are worth booking ahead — the better suppliers there work by appointment and are not set up for walk-ins.
