Huanghe Fashion City

South China's largest mid-to-high-end fashion wholesale centre: 1,500 merchants over four trading floors, and the home of the China (Humen) International Clothing Fair.

Huanghe Fashion City opened on Humen Avenue in November 1999 and immediately changed what a Chinese garment wholesale market could look like. Where the town's older markets were partitioned trading halls, Huanghe was a fully fitted commercial building — and it is still described as the largest, best-appointed mid-to-high-end fashion wholesale centre in South China.

More than 1,500 merchants trade here. They are drawn from across the Pearl River Delta and from Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Fujian, alongside manufacturers based in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore — a genuinely regional supply base rather than a purely local one.

What the market sells

Floors one to four are the wholesale centre proper, with more than 1,400 shop units carrying womenswear, menswear and casualwear at mid-to-upper price points. The positioning is the point: this is where Humen sells the goods it does not want compared on price alone, and the make, finish and presentation are a clear step above the town's budget halls.

Above the trading floors the building does things a market normally does not. The fifth floor holds a national supermarket chain. The sixth is the principal venue of the China (Humen) International Clothing Fair, with 17,000m² of exhibition space. The eighth carries 13,800m² of offices — more than a hundred units — occupied by brand teams and design studios, together with a fashion show centre.

That vertical stack is why Huanghe functions as Humen's centre of gravity rather than just another market. Brand offices, a show space and a fair venue sit directly above the shops that sell the product.

Four wholesale floors, an exhibition hall, a show centre and brand offices in one building.

Prices, minimums and how buying works

Expect higher per-piece prices than elsewhere in Humen and a correspondingly better product. Minimums remain low by international standards — typically a handful of pieces per style and colour — but the useful conversation here is rarely about stock.

Because so many tenants are brand owners with their own production behind them, Huanghe is one of the better places in the region to open a private-label discussion. Arrive with a reference garment, a target landed cost and honest annual volumes, and you will get a real quotation rather than a stock price.

If you can time a visit to the China (Humen) International Clothing Fair on the sixth floor, do. It compresses what would otherwise be several days of separate factory visits into one hall.

Planning a visit

The building is at No. 96 Humen Avenue, the town's main artery, a short drive from Humen railway station and about an hour from Guangzhou. Trading runs roughly 09:00 to 18:00.

Half a day covers the four wholesale floors at a working pace. If you are pursuing private label, ask on the eighth floor rather than on the shop floor — that is where the brand teams sit.

Frequently asked questions

How does Huanghe compare to the other Humen markets?

It sits at the top of the town's price range and is the best-appointed building. Fumin and Daying carry broader, cheaper stock; Huanghe carries mid-to-high-end product and the brand offices behind it.

When is the Humen clothing fair?

The China (Humen) International Clothing Fair uses the sixth floor's 17,000m² exhibition space; dates move year to year, so confirm before planning a trip around it.

Can I arrange private-label production here?

It is one of the better places in Humen to try. Many tenants are brand owners with their own factories, and the design and brand offices are on the eighth floor of the same building.
