Guangzhou Wedding Dress Street

The street covers the full bridal and occasion range: wedding gowns across every silhouette, bridesmaid dresses, mother-of-the-bride outfits, evening and prom wear, and the accessories that go with them — veils, tiaras, gloves, boleros and shoes. Several shops also carry ceremonial and traditional Chinese wedding wear.

There is a structural detail here that catches out first-time buyers. The street has two layers: boutique storefronts facing the road, and a second row of workshops and wholesalers in the alleys directly behind them. The street-facing shops are largely retail and sample display. The alley shops are where wholesale and made-to-order business actually happens.

Beyond Haizhu, Panyu District's Luopu Sub-district holds the manufacturing side — a dense cluster of wedding-dress and formalwear factories supplying both this street and export buyers directly. If you need a factory visit rather than a showroom, that is where to go.

Bridal is the one Guangzhou category where per-piece wholesale is genuinely normal. Gowns are expensive to hold as stock and are often made against orders, so minimums are low — frequently one piece for a stock style, and a handful for a made-to-order design.

Price is driven by fabric and by handwork. A machine-embroidered polyester gown and a hand-beaded one in silk mikado are different products at different prices, and the photographs do not distinguish them. Ask specifically about the lace — whether it is corded, whether the appliqués are cut and placed by hand — because that is where most of the cost and most of the perceived quality sits.

Made-to-measure and size grading are widely offered, with turnaround typically measured in weeks rather than days. Confirm the measurement chart the workshop is using; bridal sizing is not standardised across markets and a straight size translation is a common and expensive mistake.

The street runs south from the Pearl River and is most easily reached from Haizhu Square station (exit A) on Metro Lines 2 and 6, crossing Haizhu Bridge on foot — around ten minutes. Shops open late by market standards, roughly 11:00, and trade into the early evening.

If the factory side matters to your buy, plan a separate half-day for Panyu's Luopu Sub-district, roughly 30 to 40 minutes further south. Trying to combine the street and the factories in a single afternoon does neither justice.
