The vertical layout is the thing to learn first, because it turns a day of wandering into a two-hour visit.

The basement is hardware and garment accessories — trims, lace, buttons, zips, belts, buckles. Floors one to four are fabric: knits concentrate on the lower level and wovens above it, though the split is a tendency rather than a rule and plenty of shops carry both. The fourth floor also picks up home textiles and brand showrooms. Floors five to seven are offices, brand showrooms, banks, restaurants and service providers — including the fabric testing centres, which matter more than they sound.

What distinguishes the building from the rest of Zhongda is the quality of the tenants rather than the range. Established mills keep permanent showrooms here, so you are more often dealing with the manufacturer than with a trader, and technical documentation — composition reports, shrinkage data, colour-fastness results — is far easier to obtain.

Expect to pay more here than elsewhere in Zhongda, and understand why: rents in this building are the highest in the district and they are priced into every quotation. For a straightforward stock fabric that premium buys you nothing. For anything where consistency, documentation or a long-term supply relationship matters, it buys you a great deal.

Minimums follow the district norm — samples by the metre at a premium, wholesale pricing by the roll, a few hundred metres per colour for dye-to-order. Because more of the tenants are mills rather than traders, custom development conversations are easier to start and lead times on bulk are usually shorter.

Use the testing centres on the upper floors. Having a third party confirm composition and shrinkage on a fabric you are about to commit to costs very little relative to a production run, and it is one of the few places in the Pearl River Delta where you can do it in the same building as the purchase.

The market sits on Jinfang Road in Haizhu District, opposite the south gate of Sun Yat-sen University, and is a short walk from Zhongda station on Metro Line 8. It is the easiest entry point to the whole district for a first-time visitor.

Half a day covers the fabric floors at a walking pace if you know roughly what you are after. Allow a full day if you also want to visit the surrounding markets, which begin directly across the road.
